Hi,

I have a book which is a hardback, with black/navy blue cloth (looks like canvas) over the cover. The book has candle wax and some dirt on it. What would be the best way to take the candle wax and dirt off that would both preserve the colour of the cover and keep the shape of the hardback? Thanks :)

How does one go from soybean oil to soy wax for candles? I know it is hydrogenated, but how?

I am interested in the whole process if someone can refer me to a website or some literature. Also, I am not looking for a detailed chemistry answer, just a simple one. Is this something that anyone can do required they have the right equipment, or does it require a chemistry background and setting?

How do I make a website to sell my gel candles?? Please help?? diane?

I am a beginner and trying to start a business selling my gel candles. I make hand-poured, unique candles and am trying to figure out how to make a website for people to see my work and be able to order candles. I guess i need an e-commerce site for people to purchase things and I think I am supposed to set up a merchant’s acct. with paypal or credit cards or something. If anyone could please help me i would greatly appreciate it as I am a totally NOT computer savvy person, I just want to be able to sell my candles! thank you.

Candle making…?

This is to anybody who makes candles. I wanted to know what wax to use that does not require using additives or acids or anything. A wax for container candles. I don’t know if there is a wax that you melt and all you have to add is the dye for color and scent, that’s it. That’s the kind of wax I want to use, if it will make good quality candles. Also, how much wax do you melt and how much dye and scent do you add to the wax?? I found a site that gives instructions for making container candles but it doesn’t tell how much stuff to use. Oh, and does anybody know if Michael’s craft store sells everything you need to make candles??Also, are their prices high?? I’d like to know before I drive an hour to my nearest Michael’s. Sorry if I sound stupid asking these questions! I want to start making candles at home and I want to know what to do and use, so that I don’t mess up anything and waste a whole lot of supplies. I don’t have that much money to spend and especially blow it, you know?!
Any info about supplies will help! Thanks!
Spencer Scott, you were no help. No thanks for being weird and goofy for saying something stupid that has NOTHING to do with my question! Why’d you even take the time to type that??

what is the best way to remove wax from antique glass?

I collect art deco Cambridge glass/Farber Bros. chrome and I recently purchased a set of wine goblets from an auction. For those not familiar, there is a removable glass inset inside a chrome holder and stem.
It appears that someone was using them as candle holders. There is wax all over the antique glass and chrome holders. What is be best way to remove this without damaging the glass?
I thought about hot water but didn’t want the wax to clog up the sink.

How do I clean beeswax off of glass?

I made my first attempt to make beeswax candles. I poured the beeswax into small glass bowls and shot glasses and as I poured it in some of the wax got on the side of the holders. What would be the best way to clean off the candle holders so they look nice?

Candle making?

I have made candles before and when i take them out of the mold (or leave them in) i end up with a white filmy solution on the outside of the candle. How can I get rid of this? It is ruining my candle.
