I have washed my glass candle vases by hand with washing-up liquid and also in the dishwasher and the soot won't go away. Is there anything more effective?

    I use a "Magic Eraser" such as the "Mr. Clean" brand to clean mine. I have also found that the generic ones from Wal-mart and Kroger work just as well.

    Isopropyl alcohol (sold at the pharmacy).

    I've found baking soda to be remarkably effective in removing burned substances- But you'll want to wash again afterwards to get the soda out.

    You can use isopropyl alcohol. This will solve your problem.
