Hi, I was interested in possibly starting my own home based business making candles. I was looking around for prices on burners to melt candle wax and they were extremely pricy. Is there anything else I can use? Maybe a big pot that I dont use? Any information./advice would be appreciated.
A home based candle business is a rewarding home income opportunity. A double boiler is the most efficient way to melt the wax when making candles. You will need a thermometer to check on the heat of the wax. For details on making your own homemade candles and how to start a home based candle business you can visit the free website below.
Fot the safest way, use a ‘double boiler.’ You can use two old pots.

Just recently sold my candle business – see http://www.AmishCorners.com
But, 2 of my favorite melting pots were the small STEEL electric deep fryer pots that were bought at yard sales for $1 each
Then, drilled a hole and put in a spigot to drain the wax for smaller candles, and aluminum dipping pots for the larger ones.
I’ve used a number of companies, but Bitter Creek in Wisconsin is very professional for supplies, offers a discount for ordering online, has forums that can be very helpful :

You need 2 containers. You can use an old coffee can (clean) or the smaller cans like from vegetables or soup, to put the wax in then put that in a pot of boiling water. Double boiler style. You can pinch one side to make a spout and you"ll need a potholder to pick it up.
