How do I prevent wax seepage when making a cocont shell candle?

I am venturing into making candles in 1/2 coconut shells. I am finding that due to the shells not being completely sealed there is some seepage while the hot wax sits in the shell as it cools. Would putting it in the refrigerator for a few minutes help at all? That is all I can think of.

    It may. Or find a way to pre-seal the shell.
