Scrape as much of the wax off as you can; you can put the sweater in the freezer for a while or you can put an ice cube on the wax to help.

You can put paper towel or brown paper bag on an ironing board, place a clean cloth on top of the sweater, then put the iron down over the wax. This will melt what’s left and it will soak into the paper.

Eventually you’ll just be left with a greasy spot. When you take the sweater to the cleaners, tell them what the spot is and what you’ve done to it already; they should be able to get the rest of the spot out.

Spread a layer of newspaper on top of the item of clothing, and then run the iron over the top of both layers, and then you will see the wax transfer onto the newspaper. Easy – peasy!

There are so many different kinds of stains that can ruin a piece of clothing. You have probably lost a treasured piece of clothing to a stain that you just couldn’t figure out how to remove. Well, if you fear that you are about the lose another piece of clothing to some spilled candle wax, then fear not. Follow the steps below to learn how to remove candle wax from clothing and save your garment.

    Step 1

Hold your piece of clothing with the spilled wax on it so that the area covered in wax is parallel with the floor, facing the floor, to avoid the wax spreading. Hold it like this over a sink or counter so that you don’t get candle wax in your carpet, or on some other hard-to-clean surface.

    Step 2

Place your garment in the freezer once the candle wax has hardened enough to prevent it from spreading to other areas of the garment, laying so that the stained area is kept away from the rest of garment as much as possible.

    Step 3

Remove the item of clothing from the freezer after about 30 minutes.

    Step 4

Peel away pieces of wax. Continue to do this until you have removed as much of the wax as you can.

    Step 5

Plug in your clothing iron, and set it to a low heat setting.

    Step 6

Sandwich the stained portion of the clothing between four sheets of paper towels. Place the heated iron on top of the paper towel over the stained area of clothing. Move it back and forth slowly, allowing the wax to melt and the paper towel to absorb it.

    Step 7

Repeat Step 6 until all the wax has come out of the clothing, or until there appears to be no more wax being absorbed by the paper towel.
