My mom left a candle burning last night, and she picked it up and dropped it and candle wax went everywhere (mostly on the wall) and I was wondering if anyone knew anything to get it off (besides painting over it). If it helps the wax is blue. It’s also on the carpet.

Sandpaper and re-painting is the only solution.

You can try other methods, but you’ll just end up sanding and re-painting in the end. It takes less than 5 minutes if you have matching paint.

Sand with fine grit sandpaper. Make sure you get every little bit of wax off or the paint won’t stick. Don’t worry if you remove paint along with the wax…you’ll be re-painting anyway and it won’t matter. After you’ve removed very little bit of wax, re-paint.

If you don’t have matching paint, find a close match and paint the whole wall. If you paint one wall in a close match, it will look like an exact match.

As for the carpet, you might be able to snip the wax off with scissors. Pull up while snipping and work with one thread at a time to avoid divots.

    Good luck.

I would try hot water I know that it works very well on hardwood floors. I usually just let the towel sit on the spot for a minute and then it warms up enough to come off quite easily.

Use a blow dryer on its hottest setting.

I would use ice, not heat. Ice will let it crack off. Using heat will allow the wax to drip and run on the walls. But wax will leave an oily stain on the walls no matter how you get it off.

Use newspaper and below dryer. Put the newspaper on wax stain and keep the below dryer toward the stain. Take the stain layer by layer. A little yellowish might remain, then wipe it by a piece of cotton swab and acetone. Rub it until be removed.

Scrap off as much as possible then use a cleaner for greasy messes. Mr. Clean or fantastic or anything under your sink. I think shen is right though if you have paint just touch it up.
