I got candle wax on my brick fireplace and dont know the best way to get it off. Do i just scrape it off or is there some kind of home rememdy to get it off? I would just leave it but its in a pretty noticable spot.
I recommend that you get the wax as cold as possible.
Some supermarkets sell dry Ice. Buy some dry ice (be careful not to touch it with bare skin it will cause severe frostbite) Handle the dry ice with some sort of insulating material such as paper or cloth. so that the dry ice does not touch your skin directly.
Place the dry ice on top of the candlewax and let it sit there for approximately 5 minutes. That will make the wax and the brick very cold. Also the brick will contract a bit because of the cold, that will help break the adhesion of the wax.
Now use a stiff bladed putty knife to scrape off the wax.
Other responders have said to heat the wax, however when I have tried heating wax on brick, some of the wax tends to be absorbed into the brick and cause a stain.
If you freeze it with dry ice that will often cause it to break free of the surface with little staining.
Dry ice is much colder than the water ice in your refrigerator.
Essentially dry ice ice frozen carbon dioxide. It is very very cold.
With high level explosives.
Heat the spilled wax with a hair dryer and while it melts blot it up with a paper towel.
Get an old towel lay it on the wax and then rub an iron over the towel and the heat will melt the wax and the towel will obsorb the wax and then your mess is clean.
steam & a hot damp towel, i’d use paper towels…. steam iron or pot of hot water, just steam and blot, steam and blot
