This can be awful for you! The answers you received are all good ones! Paraffin wax is a very difficult thing to get out of carpet. So my first question would be which kind of candle is it? If it is paraffin, then probably one of the answers already given will be good. If it is a proprietary formula of vegetables and other natural resources (a natural wax blend), then you will be able to clean it up with soap and warm water. And it will not mess up your carpet. You may also want to look up on the internet the company that made the candle and see what they suggest. I hope this helps.

Try putting a damp towel over it and then ironing the damp cloth. That will melt the wax and you can keep hand scrubbing the spot until it is gone.
You can also test a spot with very, very hot water (almost boiling) and see if that would melt it.

wow that sucks! I have heard you can put an old tee shirt or a paper bag on top of the wax after it cools you can use a hot iorn to lift it on to the tee or paper and off the carpet. Good luck. Don’t wipe it. Leave it til it cools for sure.

Use a blow dryer on a high heat setting and as the wax melts blot it up with a clean paper towel. OR when the wax is cold (use an ice cube) get a dull knife and chip and scrape it away. This also works for chewing gum.

While a wet towel might be helpful, a paper bag is what old grandma used to do the trick. Put the paper bag, over the wax spot, and then heat with a warm, not hot, iron. The paper will absorb both the wax and the oil in the wax. You may have to do this several times, but after a while, the wax will be all picked up.

Take about 8-10 pieces of paper towels and lay it over the wax. With a warm, not hot, iron, iron over the paper towels until the wax melts and the towels start to soak up the wax. Keep renewing the paper towels as they absorb the wax. Be very careful not to keep the iron on the rug as it may melt the carpet fibers. If the carpet is light colored, and if the wax is colored, the carpet fibers may be stained. I don’t know if the color will come out of the fibers or not. I have had to trim some of the fibers out of carpeting when my daughter spilled nail polish on her bedroom floor. It worked out well as it was one of those cut-pile carpets. Hopefully someone will offer an answer regarding the staining that you might get from colored wax.
    Good luck!

Be sure when using the iron/paper towel method not to move the iron around. Just set it down and left it straight up. Moving the iron just smears around the melted wax. This method works great! I’ve used it. I use just two layers of paper toweling. Use the lowest setting on your iron so as not to damage your rug. Just set the iron down for a few secs and then check it. If you need to leave it longer you can but keep an eye on it so the rug doesn’t get singed or anything. Use a new section of paper towel as the paper absorbs the wax.

    Melt it with a hairdryer.
