take two pieces of paper towel, place one on each side of the shirt – front and back. Iron both sides on LOW, back and forth, shifting the papertowel to a clean spot with each pass of the iron. Once you have all the wax off, try washing with dish liquid (depending on the fabric of the shirt) to get the scented oil from the candle out. If that doesn’t work, use baking soda to wash
There is a product by Goo Gone called Candle Wax Lifter. It works better than any product I have ever used. I have a home business (15 yrs) that uses wax, my husband gets wax in his shirts all the time. This product always gets it out. I also use it every year to clean up the carpet & chairs after the candle light service.
It works so well it is apparently sold out right now. I just checked the website. You can also buy it at Joanne Fabrics & Michaels craft stores. I guarantee it will work. I have used an entire bottle before on my husbands shirt because he doused himself in hot wax while working (accident). Every bit came out with a lot of scrubbing. After the wax it out wash it with oxyclean in warm water. That will take out the smell.

First step: remove majority of the wax. The easiest way is to put the shirt in the freezer until the wax is cold and then scrap off what you can.
Second step: Use a brown paper bag (check at the grocery store? preferrably with no print ink on it) and a warm iron to remove the oily residue as much as you can. This is done by placing part of the paper bag under the shirt and some between the iron and the shirt (you don’t want it on your iron!) You will need to iron over it a number of times, each time using a fresh portion of the paper bag. After most of the residue is gone, launder the shirt at the warmest temperature setting recommended on the label.
