Ice might help make the wax more brittle and therefor break off easier, especially for shorter hair. A fine tooth comb may help with any left over bits. Then check the area closely again for any redness or spots. I’ll leave your daughter to you, but if she’s old enough, you might want to consider volunteering her services at your vets or pet rescue/shelter.
Oh my god, take the dog to the vet. They can help. He needs to be checked for burns too, he could have serious burns underneath the wax. He’s probably in pain too! Good luck!!!
If it’s dry it should flake or brush off.
You can try like regular vegatable oil to rub out the wax if it won’t flake or brush out. Just remember to shampoo him to get the oil out when your done.
ADD: Yes, check for burns.
Take him to the vet to check for burns, I’ve spill one of those on myself, it HURTS! You might have to cut the wax out.
Warm soap and water, brush him. Make sure you check to make sure he is ok.
I agree with everyone else
a bath
You could cut it out, providing that you have a dog with a little longer hair.
