How do you get candle wax out of a Oriental carpet?

I found a couple methods of removing candle wax that may help you out.

Use a brown paper bag like you can still get at some grocery stores. Place a piece of the bag over the area and run a hot iron over it. Use the tip of the iron to press fairly hard into the carpet but not so hard as to rip the bag. The bag will absorbe the candle wax. Repeat as necessary. This will also work with paper towels but my findings indicate that the bag absorbs the wax better.

The second method requires a hand held hair dryer and paper towels. Heat the area where the wax is and blot the wax up with the paper towels.

One or a combination of these two should get that dang wax out for you! :)

this isnt the easiest way but it usually works. u could get a piece of ice and rub it over the wax and then pick it from the carpet. it might take a little while but itll eventually come up.
    hope this helps =)

Lay an old cloth or towel over the dried wax and rub a clothes iron on warm setting over the towel. The warm heat will melt the wax and pull it into the towel. Keep repeating this with a new area or new towel as it becomes soiled, being sure not to let the wet wax from the towel to touch any other part of the rug. After you have gotten as much out as possible, you can use a blow dryer on a high setting, this will melt any remaining wax off the top of the surface of the rug, and use a towel to scrub out any remaining wax to get the carpet back to a soft finish.

its very difficult and painstaking tho. heat up the iron and place a couple layers of clean paper towels btwn it and wax. paper towels will absorb the wax, but be very careful not to spread the melted wax around as not to make a bigger mess. it might be a good idea to practice on a scrap piece of carpet. oriental carpet may be easier since theres less shag/pile. i’d be curious as to how the pros do it. ive done it on my own carpet w/ a lil success.

I just saw something simlilar to this on TV the other day. It was crayon they were working with, but candle wax would be the same thing. Take a brown paper bag, put it over the wax & take a warm iron & keep blotting it until it melts enough that you can get it up. Be careful that the iron isn’t too hot, but still warm enough that it’ll melt the wax. It worked good on the demonstration.

  6. Nelle says:

place the paper towel (two or three layers work too) on top of the candle wax

on about medium setting, no steam, iron on top of the paper towel.

the heat melts the wax, the absobancy of the paper towel sucks up the liquified wax.

i have done this before and it has never failed!

    hopes this helps!

Yes, the paper bag method can work…very common process! But, there are other methods that are safe and very effective as there is no heat involved. This process uses solvents to break-down the candle wax into a paste and then extracted. These solvents can only be purchased in a professional carpet supply store. A good "Do It Yourself" method is to scrape any excess wax with a butter knife and dispose. Next, mix mild laundry detergent (woolite) with hot water 75% water to 25% detergent. Work the soluiton into the wax with butter knife gently…use a circular motion to agitate the solution. The hot water will help dissolve the wax and detergent will keep the wax from adhering to the carpet fiber. Use a wet/dry vacuum to remove the residue. Continue process until desired results are achieved. This process does take some patience and time! If your looking for the "Quick Fix" this process is not for you. Also, there may be some dye from colored waxes left behind after this process is used. This is a "Do It Yourself" method only….not a professional carpet cleaning process!
