I am redecorating after 16 years of the same old color scheme – peach and hunter green. I am changing to plum. I have hunter green chairs that I don't want to part with because they are expensive. The area rug is trimmed in hunter and the center can easily be used with plum accents.
I bought kitchen curtains with blue, cranberry and greenish colored grapes. They have a vintage look. I plan to do grape stencils in the kitchen along with place mats of light blue, beige and light green. I will use grapevines trimmed in light blue and light plum sprigs (flowers).
I will also use a picture depicting the entrance of Italy via water.
The landings will be Paris and New York. The one with Paris will have the Eiffel Tower and the big-wheeled bikes that were supposedly created by the French first. A New York mural on the upper landing will introduce the upper level and I will dedicate the whole stairway to New York. I plan to use Italian red flowers and candles in sconces.
The bedroom will be plum and sage. The theme of this room I am not certain but I will find something. Maybe music.
Well, what do you think?

What's a couple good websites for home decor. My style is like stuff you see at pier one. I tried Linens and Things, Bed Bath and Beyond and can't find anything. Looking for pillows, sconces, candles, vases, etc.

My reception hall is very pretty, with mirrored ceilings, wall sconces, gorgeous carpet, and a shiny dance floor. However, my mom feels like it needs some more decoration other than just the floral centerpieces. What can I do besides draping (ceilings are too low) that’ll tie together the elegant look of the venue? We are already putting low votive candles with scattered rose petals around the centerpieces. Anything I can put on the walls besides posters/pictures, which I think look cheesy? Any ideas?
Thanks!

I would like our room to be a sanctuary for my husband and I. We have 3 children who think our room is their room, I want to change that. I love wrought iron sconces, frames etc.we love candles, but what color of paint for the walls. I am a floral designer and some call me an artist, and yet I am at a loss. I do need some ideas, please.

I'm looking to do my master bedroom in gothic style- NOT modern goth sculls and cauldrens.
My bedroom is only 14' X 14' so I can't use massive pieces.
I love bargains, but don't want the room to look cheap or foolish.
Burgandy is my favorite color- already have it on the walls in my master bath- Which led me to discover that I don't want burgandy on the walls cause I'm attracted to that color in drapes, towels- so on. I'm thinking gold- which is an accent in the bath.
I've purchased lion head candle sconces for above the queen size bed. They're from Toscano- great ideas there.
Any and all ideas welcome.

I made 8 beautiful 3 inch pillar candles last year and put them in a fireplace sconce but in hot weather, they all melted and became misshaped. Is there an additive to make them retain their shape even when its 90 – 100 degrees?
I'd like to make homemade candles and have them on display. Since store bought candles don't soften enough to get lopsided during hot weather, there must be a way…
