I am a beginner and trying to start a business selling my gel candles. I make hand-poured, unique candles and am trying to figure out how to make a website for people to see my work and be able to order candles. I guess i need an e-commerce site for people to purchase things and I think I am supposed to set up a merchant’s acct. with paypal or credit cards or something. If anyone could please help me i would greatly appreciate it as I am a totally NOT computer savvy person, I just want to be able to sell my candles! thank you.

I assume you’re not familiar with OScommerce php scripts.

I suggest you download the Yahoo Sitebuilder. It will really help you in building your own website (if you don’t want to pay for web designers). You only have to customize the templates that the software provides.

MyWebbieHosting.com’s $4.95 plan also include a Site Builder where you can just personalize the templates that they provide, almost like yahoo site builder. I also suggest this web host because their domain names are only $9.50 a year, and if you sign up with any of their hosting plans, the first year of registration is free.

Good luck Diane to your candle business!

I highly recommend you take a look at this site. It is not a get rich quick scheme and it takes a lot of work but it takes you step by step through the process.

I would start out on Ebay rather than try to create your own site first. Getting people to any site is difficult, but most everybody goes to ebay looking for something. Get your products up ther, get some customers, good feedback, repeat customers and then think about developing your own site. Overhead to start will be MUCH less this way.
