My favorite suppliers are candlesandsupplies.com – located in PA and I also love Aroma Haven.com located in SC. Amy doesnt sell gel anymore, but the fragrance collections is awesome. She also has a great deal on packaging and other items related to bath and body.
As for the glassware – if you are looking to streamline your business, I would also suggest Candles & Supplies – http://shop.candlesandsupplies.com/candles/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=Candles&category%5Fname=Containers%2FJars&Page=1&path=Containers%2FJars&cookie%5Ftest=1
They have a variety of glassware at GREAT prices AND they provide EXCELLENT customer service. You can also try http://www.jarstore.com
If you have any questions or need help, feel free to send me a message. I would also suggest http://www.craftserver.com
The message board provides a wealth of information as well.
HTH
something that doesn’t bend back over the flame to much. Michael’s had some good books a few years ago but I haven’t looked lately
You can buy the products to make the gel candles almost anywhere, from Hobby Lobby & Michael’s to Wal-Mart. The most important thing to remember is ensure that the glass is flame retardant/resistant. You can’t just use any old glass you have laying around.
I learned that from experience. The flame can heat the glass too much and it can crack or worse, burst. That’s a BAD combination: broken glass flying, open flame and hot melted wax…. needless to say the tablecloth was burnt to the table and ruined the finish on the table leaf.
All that aside, they are fun to make, putzy the first time though. Another big suggestion is to head to the nearest thrift store (Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.) and buy a few old second hand pots. I don’t think you’ll want to eat out of the same pots you melted the candle gel in.
Good luck!
