Here is the best example of a picture I could find: http://www.waxwizard.net/images/fdc/pillars-mirror.jpg
I want to add a little more color to the pieces, so I plan to wrap some ribbon around the candles and add a charm or something to candles to hide the overlapping ribbon (I can’t tie bows to that is not really an option).
Does any one have any good ideas of how to do this. I don’t know what to call these "charms" or where to get them. I am looking for any websites that might help me find these "charms" or suggestions for how to hide the overlap of the ribbon.
I would go with stick pins. I’m talking about the really cheap stick pins with a flat head nothing that will stand out from the ribbon. With the flat head you will be able to push the pin flush with the ribbon. I got a pack of 1000 at walmart for .88 cents. You could also buy the stick pins that have the "pearls" on the ends and use those to hid your overlap of the ribbons. You might be able to try hot glue, it shouldn’t melt the candle and since it gets hot without bursting into flames it might be ok. Try Hobby Lobby they have a whole section for making candles they may have something that could help you.
You could go to a party Supplies and check out what they have because its a wedding i would use the wedding bands they sell at a party supply store you can look up party supplies on line to get an idea and there phone number and may be you could order them over the phone you all so look up wedding supplies.com or center pieces.com and check out there center pieces and copy it .
