I’m having long tables instead of round tables for my wedding reception. I know for the main table, I intend on having a centerpieces at the ends of the table instead of the middle, but I don’t know what to do for the other two tables (3 tables total). I plan on alternating pillar candle centerpieces and a smaller bud vase type of centerpiece (http://blog.rollingmeadowsflorist.com/__oneclick_uploads/2008/06/207646.jpg) with maybe some votives around it. How many centerpieces do you think I’d need?

For a table that seats 6 people, put one in the middle. For a table of 12, have 2 centerpieces, and so on. Scatter votives all the way down but still allow room for other necessary stuff like bread baskets, salt and pepper shakers if you’re having those on the tables, glassware, etc. so it’s not cluttered.

Personally since they are that small I would use one in the middle and one toward the ends sorta in 3rds. You can join these together easily by using a 4 inch wide ribbon down the center of the table and using your votives on either side to enlarge it some. If you plan to use only one per table try making them longer and somewhat larger, then you can use the ribbon and clustered votives further down the table.
