I am trying to organise the decoration of my reception hall, we are having 7 tables and a top table, on each table there will be a ‘fish bowl’ with white roses and black beads and ribbon, on top of a mirror with 4 tealight candles.
On the top table there will be a long row of white roses with some sort of black detail and black pillar candles on each end.
Do I need balloons in the room or will this be too much?
Also the tables will be moved for the evening reception after the meal but the flowers will still be there, would be nice to have bunches of black and white balloons in the corners of the room/ dance floor maybe?
i am doing balloons myself.
i have got gold ones, iridescent cream ones and two types of safari print ones because i am having an african themed wedding.
i like balloons and i dont think they are juvenile. fun maybe but juvenile no.
I was a florist for 20 years, save balloons for birthday parties
Balloons sound like a birthday party, not a wedding reception. Sorry.
balloons are a personal preference.
to me balloons are a bit juvenile and I’d pass, but as I said, it’s a personal preference. If you like them and you want then go for it.
(FWIW: if I had a lot of kids attending the reception then I’d have balloons. no kids, then no balloons.)
I honestly haven’t seen balloons at weddings since the very early 90s. Just use flowers.
balloons are for birthdays proms and anniversaries, i cant picture balloons at a wedding reception unless you did something spiritual with your partner and let them go in the end.
keep the balloons OUT!!
to me balloons signify birthday parties or high school dances, i would just go for the flowers. balloons seem to be a childhood things, not an adult wedding thing.
i love your centerpiece ideas, btw.
It depends on what sort of atmosphere you are going for. If you want more of a abundant celebrations type feeling, go for the balloons. The matching black and white colors will insure that they aren’t too gaudy. If you want something more refined, just stick with the flowers. Either way could be nice if you do it right. It all comes down to your preference.
No Balloons…save them for a birthday party
I think the balloons would be too much…
It might start to look tacky and clash with all your beautiful centerpieces…
And putting them in the corners of your dance floor, or room, will just get in the way…
Leave them out of your wedding…
If you wish to have something else, why not look at the paper lanterns? And see if they can be hung by the ceiling?
I was a florist for 39 years, save balloons for birthday parties
The balloons would be too much.
balloons are for a 6 year old’s bday party, not a wedding.
Balloons are not for weddings. I know some people do them, but I always thought they look cheap at weddings. Save tem for the prom, birthday parties and so on. I just do not like them at weddings. If you did….maybe just some to direct people to the reception or ceremony locations. Not as decoration at the actual event.
I second Invisigos answer! If it’s a big, ‘everyone in the family’ wedding, and kids are gonna be all over the place, then you MUST have balloons
But people are so snobby about them now, so if there won’t be many little ones, then leave them out
I think it depends on the size of the room if its a larger dance floor then go for it, I think groups of three at various heights can look great without being overbearing, and there are a lot of cute just married balloons if you just want one or a small amount
hm…I have seen balloons done before and they are fun, not so elegant though.
The flowers sound gorgeous with the black and white colour scheme.
If your head table is going to remain in the front, consider dressing it up more. Not sure where your dance floor is but if it’s infront of your head table consider draping black fabric along the front of the head table and cake table. Maybe some lighting effects.
Also laterns are cool too, black and white round lanterns in different sizes hanging down from the ceiling.
Happy Planning!
Balloons not suitable.
