We’re having a Christmas themed wedding.. I already bought hurricane vases and white pillar candles. I originally planned on using cranberries as the fillers, but when I went to the store to look at cranberries, they were all beaten up and not very pretty. I figured it would probably be safe to go with something else.

I don’t want stones, pebbles, glass beads, etc.. For some reason, I just always thought those looked cheap (sorry!) I want it to stay in the Christmas theme. Any ideas? Pictures are great if possible!

Thank you!

i think little baby pine cones would look cute. or maybe put the pine cones in the vase, fill it with water and a floating candle…..

Pine needles, tinsel, small wreaths that go around the candle

You could use the cinnamon scented pine cones they sell at craft stores, or you could use glass bulb ornaments. They come in all shapes and sizes, and all sorts of colors. You could also put little metallic bells as filler too.

Why not just put some very small round ornaments around the pillar candle INSIDE the vase.

    Like this,

BUT….instead of the rocks (as pictured), put some little miniature ornaments like these:

Go to your local thrift shops and you will see tons of Christmas stuff. Watch your prices and know how much things cost new. Just because the sign says Goodwill or Salvation Army doesn’t necessarily mean everything in the store is a bargain. Don’t be too shy to ask the manager if you can get a discount on 50 pieces of costume jewelry or a dozen wreathes you can dismantle for parts. This is most likely if you can shop during a week day. There are senior citizen days at most thrift shops, so take a grandparent. If you can get free pinecones in your area, roll them in a little puddle of elmer’s glue and then roll in a little puddle of glitter, so you have frosting on the edges. Remember, they don’t all have to be identical, they just all have to be pretty. Craft stores sell bags of pompoms cheap enough to throw away the ones that aren’t the right color. Mardi gras beads are pretty cheap in bulk too. I hope this was helpful.

How about some ornaments with silver and pearl accents to reflect the candle light?
