I’ve been making soy candles for almost a decade using the same size jars and wicks each time and have never had a problem until now.
The only thing that ever varies is the brand of soy wax chips. this 50 lb case happens to be from Cargill.
Since opening this case of wax, using an identical formula for fragrance and color some of the candles burn beautifully and some burn a small hole down the center of the wax or won’t stay lit at all.
After seeing I had a problem I have tried using different wick types and sizes. I thought by using a larger paper core wick I had solved the problem but then I did a sample batch. Prepared 6 jars with identical wicks, melted wax 2 lbs, added 2 oz fragrance oil and a couple of dye chips. Mixed very well and poured into jars. Cooled all jars under same conditions. Some burn fine and some won’t even stay lit, some burn that tiny hole down the center.
Any ideas?

Well I don’t have an answer for you but I have been experiencing this same problem. I am using a wooden wick and some will burn others will not so well. All from the same batch ???? Very frustrating! Hope someone will have a good answer for you!
