There’ll be about 57 people. A local pizzeria makes gigantic party size pizza’s and we have used them in the past for getherings. This will be for my sons wedding rehearsal party (their suggestion) and at my home, indoors and out. I have a large home with about an acre of land so people won’t feel cramped. Any ideas how to make it really special? I thought I’d try to do a Tuscan Theme using beautiful Tuscan golds, poppy reds, olive greens, terra cotta and eggplant colors. Pillar candles for the tables.
Any better or additional ideas?????
ANOTHER QUESTION: Do you think chili pepper lights of the same colors, red, yellow, purple and green would look good hung outside. Should they be just one color probably red, or do you think the idea sounds tacky?

i am trying to create a wedding centerpiece from marquerita glasses 9 oz. ones with a floating candle jazz it?

i would like to jazz up the marquerita 9 oz. glass for the centerpieces of my daughters wedding i got floating candles and mirrors for under neath the glass but my daughter does not want the look of the marquerita look i was going to add roses on the stem but that is not working out so good any ideas???
i forgot to mention also that it is a rose theme wedding her colors are red black and white. What we are already doing is placing black ribbon on the tables with white ribbon in the middle of the black then we are spreading red rose petals. the tables are 60 inch round tables.. the marquerita glasses will sit on a 6 inch mirror holding a whte rose floating candle inside the glass but what i need to do is decorate the glass stem because my daughter does not want the marquerita glass look and the rose vine that i was going to put on it is not working out Any Suggestions PLEASE HELP ME?????

Trouble with colors and flowers?

I just asked a question about flowers and colors that would accent orange cala lilies…What do you think of this..
Instead of putting more flowers around the centerpiece which will be Orange Calla lilies, what about having the orange callas as the centerpiece with candles around them and maybe bright yellow and bright red flowers tucked into the napkins in front of the menu like this http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/realweddings/detailview.aspx?id=28104&type=3&wedding_details=Reception+decor&knot%20pick=true&pageIndex=2
instead of orchid I’m thinking bright yellow and red tulips, daisies or roses. Will that seem too busy? What kind of candles, short tea candles or large pillar candles?

Birch bark candles?

I’m a very DIY bride, and even though I’m not getting married until October of 09, I’m already working on things.

Since my fiance and I are having a rustic yet elegant wedding (our colors are ivory, black, and Mossy Oak as an accent color… it will be nice, despite your immediate reactions!), we both like the idea of an antler "bowl" with 3 birch pillar candles of different levels on a stand with pine garland and pine cones.

Here’s an idea of the antler "bowl".

Here’s the birch candles:

Now my question is where can I get birch bark to make my own candles? I’d like to make my own candles if possible. Any suggestions?
I don’t want to stand on my soapbox here, but I will not just go out and peel the bark off a tree. I’m not an environmentalist by ANY means, but I was a girl scout growing up, and we never took anything off a living plant, lest that be a flower, bark, leaves, anything…

So thanks for your input, but no.

A Mid-Summer Night's Dream Theme…?

K so our theme is (obviously) A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream. Just wondering if anyone else has done this or is doing this and if you had any suggestions?? I feel like I’m on the right track, but I also feel like there is so much more that I could do. Just to give ya an idea what I have going on so far…our centerpieces are white pillar candles that will be covered in fine grit gliiter (blue n white) and moss will be added to the bottom of the candle and around the holder…with blue n lavender flowers in it (marine blue n lavender are our main colors). My two flower girls will be wearing very elegant but fun looking fairy wings. There will be all kinds of butterflies n greenery n stuff like that around the room as well. Any suggestions would be tremendously helpful. Thank you!

How to remove candle wax from glass jars?

I absolutely love burning candles and I have a thing for the jars – I never throw them away. I have all different sizes, designs, colors…the only problem is they all have wax residue in the bottom and up the sides. How do I safely get this wax out so I can reuse the jars?
Some of them just have the thinnest layer of residue (where I’ve tried to pour the most out) while some have about an inch of wax left in the bottom.

Does any one know of any good candle websites for a wedding?

My colors are white, blue and silver.

Candle making?

This is for anybody who makes candles, either for a business or a hobby. I want to start making candles at home. I have a few questions about this, sorry if I sound stupid: Can you use the same pouring pot for many different candles with different scents and colors? If so, how would you get all the wax from each candle out of the pot to start another one without scraping the pot for hours? Do you HAVE to use a scale? Can anybody give me some tips or suggestions about scents, techniques, etc.? Also, I don’t know if somebody local to where I live has came up with this, but I have a candle that is called "Butt Naked"! I don’t know if somebody has changed the name of this scent or made up their own. Would anybody know what scents are in this candle? I would really appreciate any advice, instructions, or anything anybody could tell me about candle making at home. Gift ideas or anything. Thanks!

anyone know inexpensive candle making supplies?

just got into making my own candles but can’t afford expensive colors and scents.Any suggestions?
