For those of you who have a Scentsy warmer or know what one is: I ordered a Scentsy warmer (I have not received it yet) but I didn’t really like any of the scents offered. I am a Yankee Candle girl and was wondering if I could use Yankee’s wax tarts in the Scentsy warmer. Have you done this?

I have a 100% Homegrown Soy Candle business.
I have 7 scents and need to mix and match so i can change the names. Or i can just use the scents but i’d like a different name for them.
Here are the 7 scents i have:
Strawberry
Blueberry
Lemongrass & Sage
Birthday Cake
Hyacinth
Amber Romance
Butt Naked
The Amber Romance and Butt Naked i’d like to keep the same just because they are known by those scents only!
Any ideas? THANKS!
I already have some candles made up that are just straight scents, one of each scent. Now i’d like to mix and match.
Butt Naked Birthday cake? THATs pretty long haha. I’m keeping Butt Naked JUST Butt Naked
Hey Thanks Guys!!

I am a HUGE candle junkie and don’t mind paying more money than most people would for a candle of GOOD quality. I’ve always avoided Yankee Candle because of quite a few bad reviews and stories I’ve heard from friends and family. It seems the main issue is problems with "tunneling" which leaves large amounts of unusable wax on the sides of the jar. I’m wondering if their tumblers…which have 2 wicks rather than one….would burn better. I do like the scents from this company and their semi annual sale starts in a week so I’m trying to decide if I should try them out.
*Also, I don’t really tips on different candle companies to try. I’m familiar with a large majority of them. I also know that soy candles burn better…but again, I’m JUST wanting to know about the Yankee Candles in this question. 10pts for best answer!

I am thinking about starting a candle making business. Of course like all entrepreneur’s, I want to appeal to those who enjoy certain scents.
Any ideas on scents most prefer?

Can anyone help with the legalities of starting a home-based business? I have the know-how of making candles, but don’t know how to claim/file taxes. Will I need an accountant or professional? Do I need certain licenses? I am located in Ohio.
I have been practicing, making gifts for friends and family and make them for charity donations ((raffle items)). Everyone compliments my work and the strong scents, so I am considering turning this hobby into a jobby ; )
I’d appreciate any experienced & informative suggestions/answers.
I am pretty creative when it comes to advertisement ideas. I started a free web site & email account to share with my family and friends but didn’t want to actually advertise until I figured out the legalities to a home-based business.
CHECK OUT MY FREEWEB AND FEEL FREE TO GIVE ANY HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS TOO!

I’m familiar w-ebay, the home made candles do not fair well there. I do purchase candle making supplies on ebay though!
TYVM for the insight, CandleCravings!
How do you file/claim your taxes? Where do you get the required license or know which one you need?
My plan is to make them from home and keep it small for now. I may do craft shows or sell them on consignment. I believe I have the option to add a pay/order link on my freeweb… so I’m guessing that may be the most successful tool in selling.

I am wanting to start making wax tarts and have been researching things online. I do have a few questions though. About how many tarts will 1 lb of wax make. How much scent will i need? is it smart to buy scents and product online? is it better to go to a candle supply store? anything anyone can tell me or any other information or good websites would be great. thank you.
Also i have read that walmart sells blocks of wax for candle making. Is it alright quality? Is candle wax candle wax no matter what?

What scents do you enjoy? Also, do you prefer them to be colored to match the scent? Or white/cream to match any decor?
I’m thinking of starting to make candles for some extra cash, but I don’t know what people want, lol. I’m going to use soy wax, and already have the containers picked out.
If you want to add anymore details that would make the candles better, that would be great!
Thanks!

I’m guilty when it comes to spending way too much money on candles.. I love the atmostphere when they are lit, as well as making my home smell nice! However, since being laid off from my previous career and being forced back into school, I now feel guilty splurging on anything but the necessities.
Now for my question. I have a ton of glass votives in varying sizes and shapes from old candles, each with about an inch of wax left. Can i re-use these votives by purchasing a basic candle-making kit (wax, wick, and scents) and just pouring the melted wax in them? I’m not particularly interesting in getting different molds since I do have all these half-empty candle votives that would work just as well if I were to clean them out and re-use them. Has anyone out there done this before?
