try a Magic Eraser from Mr Clean, I’ve used them successfully to clean up smoke residue before

Use Ajax cleanser or Comet cleanser. It gets everything off. Once I spilled nail polish remover on a hand written note once and it imprinted on my mom’s wooden kitchen table. It came off with that. Also, I got permanent paint on that same table and it came off with that as well. Quick fix.

I have found that the "BAR KEEPERS FRIEND" which is a cleanser and polish removes almost all kinds of spots on all kinds of surfaces. If that doesn’t work a degrease product may do the job. Then there is the home remedy of vinegar and baking soda. You must test a small spot first to make sure you do not damage the wall. You didn’t say what kind of wall you have.

I agree with the magic eraser, but long term you need to find a cleaner burning candle. I have found Mia Bellas Candles to be soot free. Check them out at http://www.Mia-Bellas-Candles.com
