I’m thinkg of having an out door wedding. I want my fiance’ kids to be the candle lighters. Having candles outside is not going to work, hopefully someone has a creative and fun solution.
During the wedding ceremony you can have the Sand Ceremony performed.
fireflies
you can have them carry something down the aisle like some flowers to pass out to the special family members like moms and grandmas who are sitting in the front row.
how about small strands of white christmas lights.in jars if you have electricity nearby or outdoor path lights?
chines lanterns you get to keep the candles and the kids wont burn themselves
You could make some fake candles out of vases and use yellow, red and orange cellophane
or use plug in lights and put them in a tree and they can plug them in.
Candles will work if they have globes around them.
I’ve seen candles inside Mason jars hanging on shephard’s hooks.
You could also use oil candles

Tiki Torches! I had an outdoor wedding in my local park and used Tiki’s. I found some citronella oil for them so they also worked as bug repellent (and really didnt smell that bad). strings of Christmas lights work as well since they come in all sorts of different colors now. Find them in your wedding colors and twist them together. String them around tables or tents or whatever. (if electric is available of course. or they make those mini battery operated sets too.)
Just had a thought. they now make battery operated tea lights. You could use them in table centerpieces outside. The ones that I bought flicker like the real things. They don’t get hot and the battery lasts a really long time.
they have these really cool battery operated tealight "candles" at craft stores, you push the button in the bottom and the little lights flicker like real candles… much safer too, and can be used over and over again… maybe you could use those..
One idea would be to have sparklers – you can get wedding ones that are very safe and light very easy, and then have the kids escort you out after with the sparklers going:)
Candles with a high glass case thing surrounding them work.
They have electric candles.
what about floating flowers with colored water and use like colored daisies
Does it have to be some sort of candle or lighting solution? Because for alot of outdoor weddings instead of a candle ceremony people have been doing sand ceremonies. There are usually 3 colors of sand in three different jars. Your, your husbands and the center jar is to represent God. Instead of lighting the unity candle you guys pour your sand into the center jar at the same time "uniting" it. Its also neat because you can keep your sand forever on your mantle.
You could have your kids carry the sand to the altar instead of lighting candles.
dollar stores have battery powered candles and tea lights
Martha Stewart has directions for Lacy Luminaries on her website. They require paper bags, doilie, glue and tealights. The tealights can be battery powered.
Well, instead of doing a candle lighting ceremony, the officiant of my wedding had us prepare 2 sets of wine glasses. We each held up one glass of wine, and then had to pour the wine into one big glass, from which we both took a sip.
